| ANNOUNCEMENT |
|
On the announcement of The 34th Conference of Healthcare Engineering
Association of Japan together with exhibition known as HOSPEX Japan 2005,
to be held at Tokyo Big Sight in the coming November, I would like to introduce
and outline some of the goals of this symposium.
These days, with revisions to the new Japanese Pharmaceutical Affairs
Law and the Medical Med Service Law, hospitals and nursing facilities have
to address the conflicting issues of guaranteeing patient safety while
promoting sound facility management.
Service provision based around patient consent and comfort, within a
unique organizational framework is essential. In addition, legal reforms
and recent trends in nursing facilities have meant that the traditional
strategies for manufacturing and selling medical equipment and systems
are facing stagnation.
To accurately grasp current trends in Japan’s society, it is necessary to view it from several angles; for example, defining Evidence-Based Medicine (EBM) and Evidence-Based Healthcare (EBH) so that it can withstand independent scrutiny, meeting current demands regarding the efficiency and economic value of “people”, “objects” and “equipment” within the healthcare world, and so on. |

|
|
The main theme of the present meeting is “The Perspective on Evidence Based Healthcare and Welfare”.
There will be special lectures, symposia and educational seminars covering
such areas as patient safety, reforms to the Pharmaceutical Affairs Law,
the so-called “mixed medical care” issue, privacy protection, diagnosis
procedure combination (DPC), clinical pathway, electronic health record
(EHR), treatment evaluations, hospital heating guidelines, and home nursing.
We hope, through these events, to impart valuable information to all
participants.
I am also thinking of including my own speciality of medical information
systems and distribution systems as a special major project.
I would like to call for various papers on both general and specific
subjects so that a lively exchange of ideas be made, and look forward to
receiving a lot of entries.
